I’ve been cooking from scratch since I was 10. I’ve become very focused and passionate about my food consumption for the past several years because being the best I can be isn’t just about my talents and skills, it is about my whole life health. So it is quite natural that my newest service is providing health and fitness advice to my clients. Because I am involved with a healthcare clinic and I am passionate about what I put into my body and what I don’t, I’d like to share any information that I can to help you to create a healthier life for you and your family.
The number of bad food and beverage choices that people make which cause a multitude of medical problems, sluggishness, overweight issues, decreased productivity even the function of their brain power, is staggering. You are only doing yourself a major disservice by not eating and drinking what is natural. I am not referring to vegetarianism or organically grown, but natural, what grows from the earth.
I can attest from my own very busy schedule, that cooking from scratch isn’t as time consuming as it seems and drinking natural beverages is as easy and you get to be very creative. Making something healthy, that tastes good and satisfies you can take less than 30 minutes, whether it’s just for you or your entire family.
I wanted to share the case study below which describes the effects of processed foods on our bodies, to give you some incentive and to help you to pursue your own healthier lifestyle.
Food Additives & Adulteration
“Today, over 6,000 synthetic chemicals are officially condoned for use in the processed-food industry. These include some that are known carcinogens. Processed foods contain high levels of the debilitating, denatured ingredients such as white sugar, refined starch, pasteurized cow’s milk, land mined salt and hydrogenated vegetable oils. The human immune system correctly recognizes chemical food additives as toxic foreign agents and attempts to rid the body of them; thus causing severe biochemical reactions and stress on the immune system.”
“After years of daily exposure to inorganic chemicals, the immune system breaks down and burns out, leaving the body vulnerable to microbes, toxins and cancerous cells. The food industry has duped the public and government health agencies into believing that their products are safe for human consumption; even in the face of abundant scientific evidence to the contrary. In fact, such information is in the public domain and openly available to anyone who seeks it.” ref: Daniel Reid [http://www.hps-online.com/foodprof13.htm Processed Food], Helping People Survive Online, accessed December 2010
Being unaware of the damaging affects on your body when you eat fast or processed food on your health can impact you and your family’s health significantly. Knowledge is power, applied wisdom is life changing.
Naturally Easy Choices
With all of the choices available to purchase produce whether it’s your local grocery store’s produce section, the frozen food aisle, an organic store, a family-owned produce store, a farmer’s market or a roadside produce stand, the cost in dollars and reduced medical problems when you include a bounty of natural foods in your diet, is far less than the cost of an illness. Produce can be very budget friendly, is easy to fix and there are multiple benefits, most importantly, you will feel great after a meal of natural foods that you made yourself.
“Fruits and vegetables contain essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber that may help protect you from chronic diseases. Compared with people who consume a diet with only small amounts of fruits and vegetables, those who eat more generous amounts as part of a healthful diet are likely to have reduced risk of chronic diseases, including stroke and perhaps other cardiovascular diseases, and certain cancer.”
“Nutrients should come primarily from foods. Foods such as fruits and vegetables contain not only the vitamins and minerals that are often found in supplements, but also other naturally occurring substances that may help protect you from chronic diseases.” ref.: naturalfoodbenefits.com
To safely and effectively remove pesticides from any fresh produce you purchase, I use this natural wash created by Dr. Mehmet Oz:
The vinegar in this spray has natural anti-bacterial properties, while the lemon juice is a natural astringent. The solution works to both breakdown and clean off pesticides.
1 cup water
1 cup distilled white vinegar
1 tbsp baking soda
1/2 of a lemon
Combine all ingredients in a large container. Transfer to a spray bottle with a pump. Spray mixture on produce and let sit for 5 minutes. Scrub and rinse.
This is the first of many articles that I will write to share my wealth of knowledge and suggestions to help you create the healthiest life possible for you and your family.
